1. Ethical code?  -  no

There is no information about Reiss’s ethical policies on the company’s website.  We asked Reiss for some information in an email dated 27 October 2011.  After we chased a number of times, Reiss finally responded on 17 April 2012, but said only:

‘Reiss has developed and continues to establish long-standing relationships with suppliers and as a premium brand we regularly assess all areas of our supply base.’

We asked Reiss if they could tell us more about how they assess their supply base.  But the company added only, on 13 June 2012:

‘We are currently in the process of building our corporate responsibility program that will underpin our on-going supply chain assessment, and will be in a position to share more with you later in the year.’

We asked Reiss again in August if they had anything more to say.  Reiss responded on 23 August 2012, but again said only:

‘Many thanks for including us in your research. CR is important to both Reiss and our customers and it is something we take seriously. As mentioned previously we are in the process of building our CR program and will be able to share more with you soon including our code standards and on-going compliance strategy for our global supply chain.’

We therefore told Reiss on 28 August 2012 that, in the absence of further information, we would be forced to assume that Reiss’s answers are ‘no’ to all our indicators.  Reiss acknowledged the email but have not yet provided us with any further information.
